POST SHOW
The Philadelphia Open Studio Tours (POST) event is a two-week city-wide arts showcase. Many artists open up their studios for tours to the public, and others, like this event at Mugshots, book events at venues across the city to feature their work to the public. The show consists of three artists; Lynnette Shelley, Matthew Romano and Joe Castro. This POST event will showcase the artist's works in three very diverse mediums and styles: from Joe’s bold paintings and collages, to Matt’s photojournalistic captures in film, to Lynette's highly stylized creatures.
About the Artists:
Lynnette Shelley
Lynnette Shelley is a Delaware native who moved to Philadelphia in 1999. She currently works/resides in Germantown as a freelance artist, graphic designer and web designer. Some of her creature drawings were recently featured in the animated short “The Spider Is the Web” shown at the 2008 Toronto Film Festival.
In addition to being an artist and designer, Lynnette is co-founder of The Red Masque (www.theredmasque.com), an original avant rock band which has played numerous shows and festivals since 2001. Most recently, The Red Masque released a new album through an avant garde music label this past summer.
Deeply influenced by Celtic, Eastern, Asian, art nouveau, primitive, abstract expressionist, and medieval artworks, as well as mythological stories and legends, Lynnette fuses these styles into her strikingly unique illustrations.
